Prince
William Day Spa & Salon Earns National Recognition for Second
Year
(MANASSAS, VA) – For the second consecutive year, Tranquility
Day Spa & Salon had the key ingredients to be one of America’s
fastest-growing salons—rising revenues, more clients and a
thriving business. When Salon Today released its list of the industry’s
200 rising stars, Tranquility was the only Prince William area salon
on the list and one of three in Northern Virginia.
“We are proud to offer the very best
systems, products and services at Tranquility, but what really makes
the difference is the incredible quality of our staff,”
said Gloria Harding, who owns and operates Tranquility with her
husband, Wayne. “Their professionalism, combined with
a friendly attitude and personal warmth, is what sets us apart from
our competitors.”
To be included in the fourth annual Salon Today
200, businesses had to meet several criteria: 1) operate a professional
salon with multiple services and products, 2) generated gross revenues
of more than $100,000 per year since 1998, 3) significantly increased
salon revenues between 1998 and 1999 and 4) provided written financial
disclosures and other statistical information. Tranquility far exceeded
these selection criteria. Since the salon opened in 1997 as a sole
proprietorship, revenues have increased more than tenfold from $106,000
in 1997 to nearly $1.3 million in 2000.
In announcing this year’s Salon Today 200,
the magazine featured a bright green cover—the color of money—and
information on each salon. “For these, the 200 fastest-growing
salons in the country, green symbolizes rising revenues, growing
client rosters and bustling businesses. And, oh, how they’ve
grown! From 1998 to 1999, their businesses experienced growth ranging
from 14 percent to 377 percent.” Tranquility’s revenues
increased by 83 percent between 1998 and 1999.
“We keep hitting the same wall over
and over again,” said Wayne Harding. “Our services
are in much larger demand than we have supply. As a result, we are
expanding our salon, hiring and training more staff, and serving
more clients. It’s a wonderful wall to hit.”
In the past year, Tranquility’s reputation
for success has sent the Tranquility team on the road. As national
educators for Grund International, the Hardings and stylist Brittany
Wike have begun conducting seminars and workshops across the country.
Recently, for example, the Harding's presented their “5 Keys
to Success” curriculum to more than 500 people at the Expressions
2001 conference in Chicago.
Tranquility has implemented other changes and
improvements since its first recognition on the Salon Today 200
list. The salon has increased its staff to 28 employees; provided
advanced training opportunities for employees in locations like
Anguilla, New York and Las Vegas; finalized plans for an expansion
of its Portsmouth Station facilities; published a client newsletter;
and increased traffic to its Web site through online gift certificate
purchases and other options.
