(Manassas, VA) For the third consecutive year, Tranquility Day Spa & Salon of Manassas is included in the Salon Today 200, a list of America's fastest-growing salons. In fact, Tranquility was one of only 48 salons selected nationwide in the $1 to $2 million category. Tranquility's owners, Gloria and Wayne Harding, say the Salon Today designation is one of several milestones their thriving salon achieved in the past year.

"To be prosperous and continue to grow last year – in an economic recession and with major national events – was very rewarding for us and our staff," said Wayne Harding. "In 2001, we completed four successful years in business, we began training other salon professionals across the country, and we earned a spot in the top 200 for the third year."

The recent Salon Today 200 designation reflects Tranquility Day Spa & Salon's revenues for 2000, which were $1.3 million. In 2002, the Hardings expect Tranquility to break the $2 million revenue barrier, placing their business in the top echelon of the Salon Today 200. Tranquility employs 24 team members and currently operates in about 1,800 square feet at Portsmouth Station. Gloria Harding attributes Tranquility's continued success to their selection of high-quality systems, products and services and to "the incredible quality and professionalism of our staff."
The editors at Salon Today also found common traits among their list of rising industry stars, "Perhaps more important than ever, these 200 (salons) have proven that through hard work, determination and leadership, they can attain the steady growth that earns them the competitive edge." Altogether, the Salon Today 200 generated more than $295 million in revenues in 2000.

To be included in the fourth annual Salon Today 200, Tranquility had to operate a professional salon with diverse services and products; generate gross revenues of more than $ 100,000 per year since 1999; significantly increase salon revenues between 1999 and 2000; project another increase for 2001; and provide written financial disclosures. Tranquility has met-and exceeded-these qualifications for the past three years, with steady revenue increases of 30 percent or more.

Because Tranquility Day Spa & Salon has achieved such remarkable success in its first four years, the business' owners and stylists have begun to share their expertise in seminars across the nation. The Harding's communicate their business strategies in the "5 Keys to Success," a presentation which emphasizes the elements for business prosperity: 1) get your chairs full, 2) communicate effectively, 3) do great technical work, 4) make sure your clients can duplicate their look at home, and 5) retain your clients. Last year, the Hardings delivered their message to over 8,000 salon professionals nationwide.

More milestones are ahead for this nationally recognized firm: Tranquility is moving forward with an expansion that will double the salon and day spa's space at Portsmouth Station. The Harding's have already scheduled several sessions to take their business success strategies 'on the road.' They presented their formula for business success in Florida last week, with more shows scheduled in March and April. Finally, Tranquility will unveil a new marketing identity and some additional gift services that reflect Tranquility's atmosphere of relaxation, enjoyment and top notch service.
