READING, REGGAE and RUNWAYS?
Tranquility Design Academy Helps Manassas Park High School Present Fashion Show

MANASSAS, Va., -- Manassas Park High School's advanced fashion class rewrote their version of the "three Rs" for their Streets of Style Fashion Show this month at Manassas Park High School for students, families and staff of the school. Student models sashayed down the runway to a combination of rap, hip-hop and reggae music showcasing their latest fashion creations. Students from Tranquility Design Academy in Manassas, Va., provided styling and make-up for the student models during the fashion show.

"Tranquility always enjoys working with students and seeing the fashion class explore their talents and help them succeed is what it's all about," said Gloria Harding, founder and owner of Tranquility Design Academy and Tranquility Day Spa and Salon. "Tranquility stylists were on-hand throughout the fashion show to help the student models sparkle with their trendy up-dos and fashionable make-up," she added.

Local community supporters for the Streets of Style Fashion Show included, Deb, Men's Wearhouse, Hot Topic and Target from Manassas Mall, Manassas, Va., as well as, The Gap, Istanbul and Sports Authority from Potomac Mills Mall in Prince William, Va.

Tranquility Design Academy is noted for its creative 10-month teaching curriculum for future hair stylists by introducing students to a Fine Art Foundation Workshop that trains stylists to view clientele with the critical eye of an artist along with a creative edge. Not only does the academy focus on the basic foundations of cosmetology school, but more than 75 percent of its courses lead the trainees to harness their own positive energy, skills and talents to realize and maximize their full potential not only to be expert hair stylists, but as compassionate, caring human beings who have been taught to nurture their self-esteem and self-confidence. Harding is a firm believer in "paying it forward."

"By teaching students to realize their own potential, we're teaching our stylists to realize the maximize potential of our clients, whether they need a great haircut, a soothing massage or a relaxing pedicure," said Harding. "Excellent product and service is a given, but providing a deeper sense of healing and rejuvenation for our clients is the ultimate goal for Tranquility," added Harding.
