TRANQUILITY DESIGN ACADEMY STUDENTS GIVE GRANNY MAKEOVERS FOR ASSISTED LIVING

MANASSAS, VA–April 14, 2007–Compassion is one of the four cornerstones of success at Tranquility Design Academy of Manassas, Virginia, alongside Integrity, Respect and Professionalism. Yesterday, the students at TDA (Tranquility Design Academy) brought their team to Cobblestones at Fairmont Assisted Living in Manassas, Virginia to give "Granny Makeovers." "Granny Makeovers" are one of the many ways that the students at the academy participate in giving back to the community. Over the past year, TDA has visited Cobblestones four times to bring beauty and joy to their residents. With curling irons, hair spray, manicure kits and make-up in tow, the students set up an on-site oasis during special times of the year.
"Watching these ladies' faces light up when they see themselves brings a strong sense of accomplishment to these students. Not only have they redesigned the woman in front of them, they have redesigned the woman inside of themselves and made each a more beautiful person. These are the moments that make volunteering worthwhile for each of us and make us want to continue to give to others whenever we can," says Tranquility owner, Gloria Harding.
The Tranquility Design Academy students provide mini-manicures, new hairstyles and makeovers for the assisted living residents at Cobblestone at least once each quarter of their 10-month school year. The volunteer work is all part of Tranquility Design Academy’s plan to turn their students into the best stylists and the best people that they can be.
